Description of Project

The department of Family & Welfare introduced Mother NGO Scheme under the Reproductive and Child Health Programme. Under this scheme, the MNGOs are playing the coordinating role in district level, in which FNGOs are working at Sub-Centre Level in different blocks.

Block Dhauladevi, district Almora is a remote block and villages are isolated from each other due to the hilly geography. The health facilities is very poor in this block. Bamanswal and Toli Jigoli Sub Center are most isolated sub centers from all the health facilities available within the block. So, MITR got the responsibility to work as FNGO under this scheme. The underlying philosophy of the mother NGO scheme has been on of nurturing and capacity building. Broadly the objectives of the programme are:

  • Addressing the gaps in information or RCH services in the project area.
  • Building strong institutional capacity at the field level.
  • Advocacy and awareness generation.

To accomplish the above goal following objectives are envisaged:

  • To increase the percentage of women receiving complete antenatal care from 15% to 30%.
  • To increase the percentage of children receiving complete immunization services from 30% to 80%.
  • To decrease RTI prevalence from 56% to 40% among women.
  • To increase male sterilization from 10% to 15%.
